I’ve been writing a My Three Words post every year since 2013.

Here are my three words for 2026: Stages, Snacks, Stacks

Stages

For years I’ve been putting my speaking career on the back burner. This year, I’m going to make it one of my primary areas of focus. I know it is among the best ways to reach people and give them the tools to think about their impact. It’s also a phenomenal top of the funnel to introduce people to the work I’m doing.
But stages aren’t just about the ones I stand on. I also see podcast appearances, visibility on social media, and coverage in the media as another stage I can leverage to find values aligned superheroes in waiting.
This year, I’m looking to get on more stages. So, if you’re reading this and have an audience you think needs to hear what I have to say, reach out and say hello: https://jgibbard.com/#contact

Snacks

I love language. I love deeply exploring ideas. I love sharing everything I know.
Sometimes, it’s a lot.
So this year, I want to give myself the permission to leave some parts of an idea unexplored or explained.
I want to take big ideas and make them smaller and bite-sized… like snacks.
The point is to make it really easy to engage with the the work I’m doing. No heavy lifting required.

Stacks

Throughout the history of my practice of writing three words, I’ve never directly talked about money. I’ve talked about success, growth, and my methods of doing those things.
But I’ve never specifically put cash flow into the mix.
Maybe it’s the state of the world, or being a father, or some other aspect of this stage of life for me, but I want to prioritize financial success this year.
And I don’t just mean simply getting by, or getting marginally ahead of things. This year, I want to have an outsized surplus of cash after handling my expenses.
Stacks is about having stacks of cash to look at, as a metaphorical symbol of the value people place on the work I do.

So, this is what I’m focusing on this year.
If you’re reading this, I hope that you hold me accountable.

What are YOUR three words?

If you’ve never done this before, there’s no better time to start.
Pick your three words and write up something to post on your blog or on Medium. Share it on social media and add the hashtag #my3words so other people can find it.
Feeling shy? Don’t want to publish your own post to share with the world? Just post your three words in the comments of this post.
Thanks, as always, to Chris Brogan for the initial inspiration to do this every year.
